New Year's Eve Toddler Style

We are living through some pretty challenging times and things look very different this year. There won't any New Year's Eve parties or get-togethers for us but I still want to make it special. Hunter is only 2 but I want to make it fun for him and us! Netflix has a New Year's Eve Countdown so you can play it at any time. Hunter's countdown will be around 7pm. We made our own noisemakers and party poppers! They are both super easy and can be made with things you most likely already have in your home. Here is what we did!

Noise Makers

What you need:

Paper Plate

Corn Kernels, Beans, or small pasta

Hot Glue Gun

Ribbon & Tape (Optional)

Fold the plate in half. If you are adding ribbon, curl and tape pieces to the edge of half the plate. Pour in about 1/4 cup of corn, beans or pasta. We used corn but all will work. Hot glue along the edges and squeeze shut. You can let your toddler, paint, color or use stickers to decorate the outside! Then it is ready for shaking!

Party Poppers

What you need:

Toilet Paper Rolls

Balloons

Packing Tape

Pom-Poms

These are so much fun and can be used over and over! First have your toddler decorate the toilet paper rolls with paint and/or stickers. Allow paint to dry fully. Take a balloon and tie a knot. Next cut off the top leaving the balloon with the knot side. Pull balloon onto one side of the toilet paper roll and tape it on to secure it. Now you are ready to go! Fill the open side with pom-poms (I found smaller ones to work better) and pull the knot. The pom-poms will shoot out! Refill and pop again!

In hard times it can be difficult to see the good, but we all have things to be grateful for including these kids that bring so much joy into our lives! However, I am still happy to say goodbye to 2020 and hopeful for a better 2021 for all!

Happy New Year!
